LES PUISSANCES DE L'IMAGINATION

S'il était un empire de l'imagination, ce serait moins celui du réel que celui du refuge fantastique, de l'imaginaire... Dès lors, il est capital de redonner à l'imagination sa juste place dans une philosophie de l'action. L'imagination est le médiateur de la créativité. Elle est la faculté du possible pratique en nous ancrant poétiquement au monde. Les images fournissent un cadre herméneutique pour l'agir. Elles augmentent notre intelligence du réel et testent notre capacité à nous y investir. En ces temps dominés par la rationalité instrumentale et le contrôle, voire l'évaluation tous azimuts du vécu, reconnaître la place des puissances de l'imagination est devenu tâche urgente pour habiter autrement notre monde ! -- If there were an empire of the imagination, it would be not so much a realm of reality as of fantastical refuge, of the imaginary... This being true, it is essential that imagination be restored to its rightful place in a philosophy of action. Imagination mediates creativity, makes it possible by anchoring us poetically in the world. Images provide us with a hermeneutic framework in which it may be animated, augment our understanding of reality and test our capacity to invest ourselves within. In times such as ours, when we are dominated by instrumental rationality and control?not to mention the weighing up of every facet of our experience?it has become an urgent task to acknowledge the importance of the powers of imagination, if we are to succeed in living in our world differently!
