This book is an introduction to the philosophy of science, covering the main concepts — as well as a number of seminal authors — in dictionary form.

The prologue and introduction place particular emphasis on the value and usefulness of science, and the obstacles it has had to overcome — and sometimes still has to — in order to exist.

Thereafter, each entry explains the notion in question, with practical implications and advice for researchers from the management sciences, the humanities and the social sciences.

Jean-François Trinquecoste is Professor Emeritus (University of Bordeaux, IAE, IRGO), Professor at the Business Science Institute, Chairman of the Institut of Analysis and Forecasting of Societal, Economic and Managerial Trends (IAPTSEM), and Chairman of Excelia Business School’s Scientific Advisory Board. He holds a PhD in management and also studied Philosophy at Bordeaux Montaigne University. He has headed the Enterprise, Economy and Society Doctoral School as well as the Institute for Research in Organizational Management (IRGO) at the University of Bordeaux.
