Chasses fragiles

In defining Chasses Fragiles, one might say that it is a botanical book not written for botanists, or a book which has nothing to do with botany, but is likely to delight (and irritate) botanists.

It is similar in genre to that of the "Livres de Nature" seldom produced in France in this form, although in the 1930s, Editions Stock launched what has since proven to be a popular collection under this label.

In the course of three walking tours, readers will come across several Orchids of the French Flora – some common and others not – but all rare or virtually unheard of in France. As for the text, the author enjoys jumping from bush to bush like an irreverent vagabond who, upon accidentally meeting the startled stare of a doe, feels ready to tour the world.

Mycologist Patrick Reumaux is also a poet, novelist and translator. An expert on mushrooms, particularly of the Cortinarius and Russula genera, he has published numerous articles on mushrooms in mycology's leading scientific journals. Featured in the same collection is his book on poisonous mushrooms, Les Tueurs.
