- Résumé : "Embark on a delightful journey through the charming narratives of William Makepeace Thackeray in 'Little Travels and Roadside Sketches.' Penned by the esteemed Victorian author, this collection captures Thackeray's keen observations and witty reflections on his various travels. As Thackeray ventures through different landscapes and encounters diverse characters, 'Little Travels and Roadside Sketches' becomes more than a travelogue—it's a literary expedition that unveils the humor and keen insight of a master storyteller. Join Thackeray on this literary journey where each sketch and tale reveals a new facet of his travels, making 'Little Travels and Roadside Sketches' an essential read for those captivated by the charm of Victorian literature and the art of storytelling."
- Biographie : Thackeray, an only child, was born in Calcutta, British India, where his father, Richmond Thackeray (1 September 1781 - 13 September 1815), was secretary to the Board of Revenue in the East India Company. His mother, Anne Becher (1792-1864), was the second daughter of Harriet Becher and John Harman Becher, who was also a secretary (writer) for the East India Company. His father was a grandson of Thomas Thackeray (1693-1760), headmaster of Harrow School.
